"Who Are You?" New Podcast Episode

This morning I couldn't find my phone anywhere and had to drive quite a distance relying on my memory of how to get from point A to B. When I drive, I focus on my immediate surroundings ("What's that car doing?"), not if I'm going east, west, south, north.

I pay little attention to signs, boroughs, and just enjoy the drive, letting GPS figure out where we're going. Space cadette activities. 😂

Needless to say, driving without my phone is not something I ever do.

So this morning I looked and looked and looked for my phone but it was nowhere to be found. Time was quickly running out and I had to make a decision.

Finally, I gave in. I could feel God in this whole thing- I'd prayed to find my phone which usually works for lost items, but nothing. He was here. And He was peaceful about it. I knew He wanted me to drive without it.

I wish I could say I decided to trust Him, but what I really said was, "If I get lost, I'm coming back home."

I did indeed find my way there and back easily (and even got where I was going early). Normally, I listen to sermons in the car, but this time I was alone with God and all He wanted to talk about was identity.

He'd been allowing me to feel a bit of the utter despair so many are in right now since last Tuesday night/Wednesday morning. It's a level of despiar that reminds me of the pandemic but tinged with fear and hatred. To be honest, it feels like a dangerous level of despair and I've been praying for people to resist the spirit of fear that is trying to actually derail lives in big and small ways.

I was surprised when He wanted to talk to me about the importance of identity because I did not see how the two were related.

But I listened, and as I drove without my trusty map on the screen in front of me but was somehow getting exactly where I needed to be, He wanted me to ask, "Who Are You?"

He showed me how not knowing who you really are is the root cause of many believer's struggles.

He showed me that yes, He gives us more than one identity in this life, but when the primary one is rooted in anything but the Man Jesus Christ, we open a door to more than we realize.

He showed me that the reason the enemy encourages people to yoke their primary identities to earthly things is because he knows this earth will not last forever and wants the same for them.

This episode is about knowing who you really are and why that makes all the difference.

How Staying Focused Keeps You Afloat

In the last post I wrote about how in the story of Nehemiah, two men called Sanballat and Tobiah were instantly disturbed by Nehemiah's plan to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem.

Then they laughed and accused Nehemiah of doing wrong. Nehemiah didn't fight them or go on a tirade defending himself. His answer to his newly formed panel of agitators was to state his unmoving faith in God. Even as they spread falsehoods against Nehemiah, he prevailed. How? He kept his eyes on the One who had given him his project. Focus will keep you on track and even in joy as you work. Keep reading.

Rejecting Every False Prophecy/Curse & Choosing God's Vision

When Sanballat and his buddies realized he could not attack Nehemiah's body, they tried to attack his mind with accusations. When they realized the attacks on the mind did not work, they tried to attack his spirit by having him come into physical agreement with false prophecy of imminent attack and death ("they will come and kill you").

What has been falsely prophesied over your work? That it's not a good time to start? That the economy isn't good enough? That no one will like your work? That it will fail? That you're not the one to do it? The enemy cannot physically make you stop but he will try to discourage and discredit you. Come out of agreement with any false prophetic word and come into agreement God's sight for your project. Keep reading.
